Two of the best trainers a gym owner could ask for take 5 minutes to do some snatches.
The Tactical Strength Challenge is a bi-annual competition that tests the abilities of each athlete in three different categories: max strength, relative strength, and endurance. There are three events: the Deadlift, Pull Ups, and 5 Minutes of Kettlebell Snatches. The competition is worldwide and the results are compiled on a website over the course of two weeks or so. It is a free competition to do and is a great training motivator.
I have been competing in the TSC for a few years now and always look forward to the great atmosphere and challenge. The people are always great and it is fun to see how things all line up after the results are in. I have competed in both the Open and Elite Divisions. It allows me to focus for the 4-6 weeks prior and do some things I normally don’t do in training. This year we were fortunate enough to be able to do it at Foundation Strength. We had eight competitors.

Five minutes of snatching is a very humbling experience- even when you train for it.

Pull ups are often the great equalizer

Amino Impact
I get asked a lot about supplements. When working with athletes, it often isn’t a question of “if” they are taking something, it is more of a “what” they are taking. In the sports world now, you do not have to read very much to see that some people take some pretty questionable things- legal and illegal. One of the biggest excuses from college and pro athletes is that they took something and didn’t know it had a banned substance in it.
Enter Inbounds Athletics. Their whole business revolves around selling supplements that have been lot tested for banned substances. That means they buy pallets of supplements from participating companies and just test those containers. They sell many popular brands and formulations that athletes frequently use. One of their most popular and, in my opinion, best supplements for lifting is Amino Impact HD.
It is in the category of pre workout drinks like NO Xplode and many others. The difference is that on the ingredient panel, there are a lot fewer things in it than some of the competition. They stuck to the basics- creatine (di-creatine citrate) and beta-alanine. There is also an Amino Acid Matrix with glutamine, arginine, leucine, valine, and isoleucine. Amino Impact does have caffine, but nothing near some of the other popular brands on the market. That’s about it.
I have been taking Amino Impact for about eight months during training and I have been very happy with it. It does not give me gitters or make me dizzy like NO Xplode did. It was also very noticable the effect it had on my work capacity training.
Anyway, just a little testimonial about something I do have experience with. You should always be very cautious when diving into the supplement realm. There is a lot of crazy stuff out there. If you are an athlete, you would be smart to only buy supplements from Inbounds Athletics. They are the only company that sells lot tested supplements. They garuantee their supplements will pass the drug tests, so you should too.
